Commands & Reinforcers

Commands & Reinforcers

Overview

The Language Builder from Stages APP allows you to choose among pre-programmed Instructions, Responses to Correct and Incorrect Trials, and Reinforcers for completing an entire drill. You can choose which Instructions and Reinforcers you want; and you can choose Text, Audio, Both or Neither.

To access the Instructions and Reinforcers, scroll down the settings menu on the right hand side of any of the Activity Specific Settings pages. Continue scrolling to reach the Completion Reinforcement Settings (shown left).

Choosing Your Instructions

The Language Builder App allows you to control the instructions (or in therapy terms the Sd, Discriminative Stimulus, or Cue) that your student hears and/or sees at the beginning of each trial. The app comes with 3, pre-programmed text and audio instruction choices for Identical Matching, Similar Matching, Receptive Labeling, and Expressive Labeling; one for picture ID an 2 for Sorting.

You can turn on or off the Text and/or the Audio. If both text and audio are off on a command, it will be removed from the rotation of commands. If only text is turned off, the command will stay in rotation, but with audio only. If only audio is turned off the command will stay in the rotation but with text only.

Choosing Your Responses to Correct and Incorrect Trials

The Language Builder App also allows you to choose the reinforcers that your student will hear if they get a trial correct or incorrect. The Responses to Correct and Incorrect Trials are the same for Identical & Similar Matching, Receptive Labeling and Sorting. The Picture ID and Expressive Labeling Drills do not provide this type of feedback. For more information, go to the activity information pages for those 2 drills.

Choosing Your Reinforcers for Completing an Entire Drill

The Language Builder App also allows you to choose the reinforcers that your student will hear and see when they complete a drill.
